History

Antigen was founded as a punk band in Göttingen (Germany) in 2002. The founding members are Steffi (Bass and Vocals), Mücke (Guitar), and Wally (Drums). The band released the first album „Fluch der Väter“ in 2006 with the newcomer-label „Skulls in Heaven”. The second LP „Ware Leben“ was released in 2009. In this year Wally left the Band and Schmied (ex-member of Dunkle Tage and Red With Anger) became the new drummer. In 2016 Mad Butcher Records released the EP „Ourselves“. After that, the band took a break. Steffi spent more time in Prague and was the vocalist in the Czech HC-band ANGRY BRIGADE from 2016 till 2018.

In 2018, Steffi found new band members for ANTIGEN in the common former band ANGRY BRIGADE in Prague, which influenced the sound significantly and brings more crust and hardcore elements into the band. In the current line up Svata ( among others Dread 101, Exekuce) on the drums and Roman (among others Fear of Extinction, Jonestown) on the guitar. In spring 2020 the band released, in cooperation with international labels, the Album „Dust & Ashes“. Early 2022 the band released the Split LP „A Sense of Dread“ with the Swedish band Socialstyrelsen.

Bandgeschichte

Antigen hat sich im Jahr 2002 als Punkband in Göttingen um Steffi (Bass/Gesang), Mücke (Gitarre) und Wally (Schlagzeug) gegründet. Die Band veröffentlichte das erste Album „Fluch der Väter“ 2006 mit dem Newcomer-Label „Skulls in Heaven”. Die zweite LP „Ware Leben“ wurde 2009 veröffentlicht. Im selben Jahr sprang Schmied (Dunkle Tage, Eyes of War, Red with Anger) als neuer Drummer ein. Im Jahr 2016 erschien unter Mad Butcher Records die EP „Ourselves“. Nach einer längeren Zwangspause aufgrund von Besetzungsproblemen ab Mitte/Ende 2016 holte sich Steffi, die Bassisten und Sängerin Anfang 2018 Verstärkung aus Tschechien. Nachdem Steffi zwischen 2016 und 2018 in der Prager HC-Punkband ANGRY BRIGADE gesungen hat, kam die Idee auf ANTIGEN nach Prag zu holen. Unter dem Einfluss von Crust- und Hardcore-Elementen ist die Musik deutlich härter und schneller geworden. In der jetzigen Besetzung spielt am Schlagzeg Svata (u. a. Dread 101, Exekuce) und an der Gitarre Roman (u. a. Fear of Extinction, Jonestown). Die Texte sind heute ausschließlich englisch. Sie richten sich gegen herrschende Machtverhältnisse, soziale Missstände, Kapitalismus und Krieg. Im Frühjahr 2020 veröffentlichte die Band, unter Beteiligung internationaler Labels, das dritte Album „Dust & Ashes“. Anfang 2022 veröffentlichte die Band das Split-Album „A Sense of Dread“  gemeinsam mit der swedischen Band Socialstyelsen.

O kapele

Skupina Antigen byla původně zformována jako trio v německém městě Göttingen roku 2002. První nahrávka bylo LP s názvem „Fluch der Väter“ a vyšlo v roce 2006 na labelu “Skulls in Heaven”. Druhá deska „Ware Leben“ byla vydána v roce 2009. O pět let později vychází na labelu Mad Butcher Records EP s názvem „Ourselves“. Mezi roky 2016/17 se složení skupiny po kratším období stagnace obměnilo. Do skupiny přišlo několik původních členů pražského uskupení Angry Brigade, jejich příchod měl vliv na změnu původně punkového soundu. Přinesl více crustových a hardcore vlivů a také pro texty začla být využívána spíše angličtina než původní němčina. Lyrika se celkově zabývá především politickými a společensky kritickými tématy.
